I have had three excellent experiences at The Mail Center KC; to wit, employment-related finger printing and notary services. All and sundry l dealt with were helpful, friendly, and efficient - a pleasure to work with. In sum, if you need the services they offer, all done with excellent customer service at budget-friendly prices, look no further.

I don’t usually post reviews, but this was such a scam-y experience. I will preface by saying I work in healthcare and am extremely on board with masking for immunocompromised folks or when reasonably requested .

Went for I9 verification and was told I needed a mask, despite the employee not wearing a mask as we spoke face-to-face. (And I’m sure the business owner will chime in and say I didn’t read the fine print of the confirmation email — I did, and it does not mention mandatory masking anywhere). Masks are $1.10, which is already a joke, plus a credit card transaction fee. We stepped 10 feet away from the front counter for the I-9 portion, which took approximately 90 seconds, then the employee and I both removed our masks. I expect the business owner will reply to this comment explaining how the policy is for public health reasons, but that is ludicrous. Go somewhere that won’t try to nickel-and-dime you, then claim they are doing it for noble reasons.

A business disingenuously trying to make a buck off public health concerns does not deserve your money.

Edit: I’m sorry to hear you are dealing with so many global transmissible infectious diseases. Can you describe a few things you do, other than selling a product for profit, to combat these diseases?

Summary: paid $130 for rejected fingerprints and 90 minutes of bullying

Went here for fingerprints for a nursing license and had a negative experience from the beginning. I told gentleman ringing me up that I was there for fingerprints and a woman, who I assume was the manager, peeked her head out from another room and told him to ring me up for a mask— which apparently I needed for fingerprints at this location (I saw another post from someone who was told by this staff that masks were federally policy, which is not accurate at all). The gentleman looked at me wide eyed when I told him I also needed to be rung up for fingerprints, saying, “she [The manager] only told me a mask”. So I was charged $1.30 for mask and then charged a $2 fee for using a card on such a small purchase.

Now for the fingerprint portion. The gal had a lot of difficulty getting my fingerprints and kept getting upset with me. I got my fingerprints done in another state and they had no troubles at all, so I’m not sure what the problem was here. She kept making comments about me being too sweaty (I wasn’t sweating), then the pores on my fingers were too big, then I wasn’t keeping my thumb STICK STRAIGHT while also relaxing my wrist (this is physically impossible as your thumb attaches at your wrist).

So 90 minutes and 3 fingerprint card attempts later, it’s time to mail them. I had grabbed an envelope from the wall of envelopes, but the gal pulled out a Fedex envelope from the stash behind the counter. I went to put mine back and she quickly said, “actually you need 2”. It felt like a way to nickel and dime me, but I thought whatever, I’m desperate to get out of here. Then she told me my fingerprints needed to be at their destination in 48 hours or else they’d be rejected. I had never heard of this before and none of my employment instructions indicated a 48 hour time crunch. Again, out of fear of having to repeat this horrible experience, I paid whatever. In total, I spent almost 2 hours and over $130 here— and left feeling totally scammed ($4 mask + $30 per fingerprint card x3 + $2 per envelope x2 + $35 for 2 day shipping)

Next week, I get a call that my fingerprints were rejected and I had to redo them. Went to KCKPD instead. The officer had no trouble with my prints and said several times that the difficulties were Mail Center’s deficiencies, not my “sweaty, porous, too stiff/not stuff enough joints”. Oh, and they never mentioned needing to wear a mask during the appointment. $25 cash (which the officer actually waved when I told him about my experience here), and $10 for 2 day delivery from an actual FedEx location…

A multitude of products and merchandise from packaging, moving, home/office supplies, greeting cards, and more! Very modern space and decor. Transparent with pricing and options.

I came in for DMV services (registration for new vehicle) and had a great experience.

Pros: Fast and friendly customer service. They were definitely faster than the standard DMV! It was very quick and easy. I came here via recommendation from a coworker and I'm really glad I did! Great perk is that if you forget a document or need to obtain additional paperwork, you can leave and come back WITHOUT starting from square one again (NOT possible at the local DMV!)

Cons: Staff seemed to be trained for various things and not on all tasks, however, it was very obvious they were continuing training so I'm sure this will improve with time. My only real negatives were that the store music was a touch too loud, making it occasionally difficult to speak with staff and work on my registration. The other comment was that the store scent (maybe a perfume or room freshener) was just really strong, but that could just be me!

Overall, really positive experience and I would definitely come again!
