My husband and I hired Kai as our wedding photographer for our April 2024 and we are so happy with that choice. We had some unexpected changes to our wedding timing due to family health issues and Kai was super flexible and able to work with us on the new plan. He was warm, professional, and made us photo-averse people comfortable in front of the camera. My wife and I had the distinct pleasure of having Kai photograph our engagement and elopement. From day one, Kai was helpful, responsive, kind, and easy to work with. He was really interested in getting to know us as a couple which is reflected in his photos- he knew how to capture our love and we felt completely at ease around him. We ended up changing our wedding plans multiple times due to the pandemic and each time Kai offered suggestions and support. He was extremely flexible, helped us scout locations for our elopement, and even assisted with creating a timeline for our big day. He truly went above and beyond to make sure we felt relaxed and prepared going into our wedding day. At our elopement, Kai was a calm and positive presence. He managed to get some amazing candid shots and I often didn't even notice him snagging photos. Kai's photos are incredibly beautiful and heartfelt. We are beyond happy and impressed with the photos from both our engagement session and elopement. In addition to being a talented photographer, Kai is a wonderful human who is lovely to work with. We can't recommend him enough!

It was such an honor to work with Kai Hayashi! He has great packages and was a great addition to our wedding day. All the communication was very clear and I knew exactly what to expect. Kai was flexible moving to multiple locations and adding more paid hours to our package. With Kai there it felt like we were hanging out with a friend we've known for years and he made us very comfortable. He has a very calm presence which was appreciated. Both my husband and I are on the shy side when it comes to photos and he did a good job drawing us out and getting our personalities to come out in the photos. He helped us keep track of photos we wanted to capture and made some come to life that we didn't even dream of. He even remembered my joke request to photoshop a fire emoji in a photo. I'm excited to look back at these photos for years to come. You won't regret hiring Kai.

Kai is AMAZING at what he does. Everyone from our wedding was in awe with how beautiful all the photos turned out. It felt like we got to re-experience the day, especially in the lovely slideshow that he put together for us. Kai was very thoughtful about capturing those special moments that mattered the most to us. He was so professional that we barely noticed him throughout the evening, but he was hustling the whole time. It is so very evident that he is passionate about what he does. I’d choose Kai again for our wedding day in a heartbeat. He was so personable and easy to work with. He made taking pictures fun and comfortable for two people who aren’t naturally great in front of the camera. We really appreciated the time and care he took to get to know us on our first call together, finalizing the timeline for the day, and helping everything go smoothly. It felt as if he was a friend who happened to be our photographer. He captured so much joy and happiness and special moments from our entire wedding day. I don’t think there’s a photo from our entire album that I don’t love!

Kai captured our small elopement perfectly. It is abundantly clear that he has an amazing eye for photography. I found his beautiful portfolio through Portland’s Vendors or Color network and was so encouraged to see such a variety of relationships being displayed. I contacted him with only 2 months notice as we were planning in a short timeframe (ahhh the joys of Covid). Kai was quick to respond and was both eager and open to hearing all of our ideas and plans. Kai suggested we meet in advance for coffee which was so helpful in calming any nerves in front of the camera as we had already broken the ice and became acquainted. Our ceremony only included 3 people besides my partner and I and Kai fit into our day seamlessly, my family loved having him there and he truly felt like part of the day instead of someone looking from the outside in. He exuded confidence and ease, keeping a an efficient but relaxed demeanor during our time with him which really helped keep the day low stress and just lovely. The photos speak for themselves, we received a short preview of edited images within a matter of hours and all the rest within 2 weeks. Such a wonderful turn around and we are beyond happy with how they turned out. We will cherish them forever and highly recommend working with Kai for your photography needs.
