Absolutely great place! The years of experience are proven with their knowledge, customer service, and variety of services! Video production, printing, film, huge selection and great marketing website and physical site!

Jack knows what he’s doing and that’s why they’ve been extremely successful for YEARS! Appreciate the intentional service! 2 hours and they knew everyone that walked in and helped everyone intentionally!

I came in an hour before closing on 2/3/2025, I was looking to trade in a Canon Camcorder for a different video camera. I was greeted by a man who was at the glass camera case, which he took a look at my Canon camcorder and was able to trade it in for money off my new purchase. Nicole came over and showed me the two camcorders of different models, one of the Panasonic Camcorders I asked about she charged up so I can view the quality of the zoom. Nicole and the man were very helpful & honest about all their products. The check out was a breeze, I did forget my ID there when they asked to scan it to verify. A few days later after I had left, I called Genes and asked if I left my ID there, and I said I would not be able to come back there immediately (I live over an hour away). I asked if they could mail it back which I got back on Monday thankfully! I always have recommended Genes Camera Store, it's one of the few remaining "brick and mortar" camera stores in Indiana, plus the most helpful advice is given when asked. This one and only store has a strong history of being in Historic South Bend, I hope this business continues to stay strong in the future!

Honest, friendly, and very knowledgeable staff!

I brought in a slightly older DSLR to get diagnosed. It had been damaged and I needed to find out if it was worth repairing. I had my toddlers with me, and they had fallen asleep in the car during my errands. I ended up calling the shop to see if they could collect the camera and do the paperwork in the parking lot so I could stay with the kids in my car, and they did! Kevin was both understanding and friendly, while very accurate with an estimate for repairs.

I was able to return later the next week to collect my paperwork and go inside. If you need new or used equipment for the professional, consumer, or somewhere in between, Gene's will have it.

Today's rapidly advancing electronics field has an unfortunately side effect that forces manufacturers to cease support for outdated equipment. My camera fell into that category. I was compelled to go to Gene's Camera Store just because of the name.
I'm a mom & pop shop kinda guy and Gene's is just that kind of place. My wife and we're greeted several times while we were there. Three different members of the staff provided their assistance. The verdict didn't fare well for my camera, but I left Gene's Camera Shop happy to have found a mom and pop shop that value customer service.

The service at Gene's is unmatched. It was very refreshing to have the support of the people there who really know what they are talking about. They made great recommendations and gave advice. First I rented a camera for about a week to test it out. Then I bought a similar model. I am absolutely loving my Nikon Coolpix P950. Thank you to everyone there who helped with my purchase!

I put in an order request for a Fujifilm X100VI in February this year. Although I was able to purchase one through another location that had inventory first, I received a call this morning from the shop owner following up and saying that a unit was finally available for me to purchase! The shop owner & I proceeded to have a conversation about the camera, what I liked about it, and what it adds to my creative process. Although I never purchased anything from this shop, I felt that the customer support was above and beyond every other shop I've been to. The owner seems to genuinely care about photography, and the customers who shop there. Will be shopping here in the future!
